What are the advantages and disadvantages of roller camshafts, and how do they compare do "regular" camshafts?

roller cams have rounded lobes and use roller tappets. this in turn induces less wear on the valve train. less friction = more power If I were a machine, I'd be a lot happier.

Yea the less friction is worth about 5 horse power. The real power gain is in the lobe design. However you really have to question the cost for a street car when a solid cam can make similar power for a fraction of the price.
