Just a thought for all you out there, I have the inserts removed from my 70 challenger for a little more air flow, do you think I might benefit from putting my original dual snout air filter back on? When I shut the hood, the scoops match up very nicely with the dual inlets of the cleaner. Right now Im running just a standard pie shaped. Don't want to restrict due to the parameters of the dual snout, but when moving it might be a plus. What do you think>

Bob do what works for you, honestly your pie shaped with a minimum 3" air cleaner will get the job done just fine, plus it probably looks good, why do I say this, I have run with a sealed air scoop to the carb, and an unsealed scoop with an air cleaner, car runs exact same times. I always found the biggest thing with opening the factory hood inserts was to let in a little more cool air to help drop engine temp. and provide some cooler fresh air as you said to the carb.

OK good. Yes the pie shape cleaner looks good, but I still have the original dual cleaner which I was thinking of restoring and putting back on. I think the dual looks good also and it is original and it has the 340 pie plate. So if im getting what you are saying I really wouldn't notice any difference and my air flow would not be restricted at all with the dual snout one.. But it might be an advantage while moving with cooler air comming through the scoops and directly into the two snouts of the air cleaner. Im kinda creating a direct path from the outside to the carb.
