Seeing, Driving, Owning, experience? Mine was back in 68 when I was 8. Sometimes we`d see the older boys, drag, What is that? I asked, to the local kid crowd. One boy said, that`s a dodge charger. He was up against a 63 or so impala. Did`nt see who won, they were still side by side, going around a bend. They did have a lookout on the bend. What a great time being a kid, still innocense back then. My first drive, was a64 valiant. That was a spiffy little car,and that was in 79 or 80! First owned, was a 71,I believe,FuryIII. With a 400. I nicknamed it old smoke, cause it did. But it blew me away when I got behind a group of about 8 cars, and the passing zone was good for about 2 cars.I stomped it and went around them, like they were sittin still! This made me a believer.I`m now fortunite ,to cruse my old haunts in a 67-340 cuda.

Power wise? 68 fury lll built 383, isky mega cam, 10.2, headers, 750 holley, 906 ported heads, strip dominator 727 turbo action trans turbo action 3200 stall 4.10 gears. Though this a heavy car I t was surprisingly fast and destroyed lots of cars. It was owned by an older friend who bought it from a guy in his 60's who had tried every thing with combos and settled on the optimum. My first car was a 71 dart swinger 2dr hard top bronze w/wht on black int 225 904 7 1/4 on cragers 14's. I built the 6 up quite a bit and would take advantage of v 8 cars that were bad combos or stock every time just leaving them in the dust and being pretty impressed with my self and lil engine. what fun....

65 Fury 3 4 dr. slant 6, I beat on this thing for yrs. and it kept on ticking. It wasn't fast, but it was solid and safe. First thing I ever had to fix was the starter, after changing the starter out in about 5 minutes I was convinced I wanted to be a mechanic. I later learned not all mechanical repairs were so straight forward. I did become a mechanic and I'am a life time mopar man because of my first car.

My first was a '73 Scamp w/50-something k miles that I bought for $1.00.. Yes you read that, one dollar!! Car actually rotted out in my driveway and I sold it for $200.00 My second was a '71 Dart w/a 318. Running and driveable for a mere $40.00 off my cousin.. Only to return it after a month... Funny how after a few drinks older people tend to speak the truth... another words the car was stolen.. 3rd car (and all these were before I was 17) '72 Satellite 2dr w/a 360.. By the time i parked it, she had a busted motor mount, no reverse, running on 7 cyls. (if i could keep it running long), rearend made a weird sound, and one bashed in fender... As time went on I dabbled in Fords, GM's and two imports only to refind myself and buy another Mopar.. That time it was 1998, I was 28, just met my wife to be and I awed her with a bad-ass '85 RamCharger 4x4.. From then till now its been all Mopars...

My 1st Mopar experience was when I was about 8. My dad couldnt decide between a new 78 Lil Red Express or a few year old 340 Duster 4 speed. Well,he chose the Duster and MAN was that car fast!! Being 8,I remember being thrown back into the seat when he would get on it and start banging gears. Unfortunatly, that car has been long gone. If we only knew then what we know now.But the Lil Red Express would have been worth more being a 1978,I thing anyways.
No it dont have a Hemi-YET!!

Hi guys, I'm new to the MMM forums. Im looking for any and all advice on tall deck DeSoto Hemi engines.
My first MOPAR is a recent $250 cornfield find, a '57 Desoto S26 341ci 4bbl Hemi hidden in a '60 Dodge Phoenix ragtop sinking in the dirt. It was buried so deep, we had to dig trenches under it to make room for the jacks! You should of heard that "pop" when we jerked the tranny off the block, it was music to my ears. I thought the log chain, the block or the trailer hitch was going to give out first, but luckily it was the tranny's grasp.
My plans are to rebuild the block for a 6-71 supercharger.
Good Day!
