Just a quick question that I hope someone can answer for me.

I have a 1968 Road Runner that I recently purchased. It was stored away in a garage for the past 15 years and was a former drag car but relatively unmodified; no body panels cut, no tubs, etc. Let's just say that the previous owner of over 32 years took a few liberties with rigging things up on it.

I have had no brakes since purchasing the car and I went to replace the master cylinder and all wheel cylinders, manual drum car. The previous owner had rigged an incorrect master cylinder to it. The one I took off had studs in the actual master cylinder itself that went into holes in the firewall and had nuts on the other end inside the car.

My question is, what was the original mounting equipment for a 1968 Road Runner with manual drum brakes.

The holes in the firewall look to be 3/8" coarse thread and appear to be threaded as though I could just put a bolt in from the outside under the hood, not sure if that is original or not but the holes in the replacement master cylinder are too small for a 3/8" bolt to fit through.

Should this car have had studs that were permanently mounted to the firewall with the master cylinder slid over these studs and secured by nuts, or was there just a bolt in each of the four holes.

Unfortunately, it looks like the studs are gone.  Maybe now is a good time to just convert it to power disk up front.  

The studs go thru the firewall and help hold the brake mechinism to the fire wall.
