Hi All! I have a unique problem with my radiator hose to engine set up (input to engine). I have a 63 Dart 270 Wagon w/ slant 6. Today it sprung what I thought was a radiator hose leak. When I inspected it further I discovered that the hose was OK but the flange coming from the engine had corroded on the underside, allowing the water to leak out at a rapid pace. I tried to shove the hose on further down the flange, but the corrosion is too great. The water just pours out of it, never making it into the engine. Is there an easy fix for this? I am imagining a smaller connector tube I could insert within the corroded flange. I need your trusty advice! Thanks!

I think your talking about the thermostat housing. If so then unless the hose is old/swollen try pulling the hose and clamp off then wire brushing the housing , then wipe some rtv around the housing neck and put it back together. They also sell new thermostat housings through jegs and year one. I have a few laying around but my guess is you live really far away and it does you no good, give the rtv a shot and or if the upper radiator hose is bad pick up a new one along with clamps. Not many girls rollin old mopars, right on! There are plenty of us here to help with any questions you have.

Hey thanks for the reply! I am a total newbie on here. I actually just bought this Dart today. I drove it the 65 miles to home with no prob and then to work & all around town. I had noticed a drip of water from under the car right before I was to head off to my automotive class tonight. I thought, Cool, I can check it out in class with the instructor. Then, on my way to school...fwoosh! I heard it spraying out and pulled over right away. I called my Dad & he brought me some water. When we tried to fill it up, we saw how bad the leak was. Like pouring it right on the ground. I was only a couple of blocks from home so I limped home with it. It is the hose heading from the radiator into of the engine (the intput). Isn't the thermostat in the hose coming out of the engine into the radiator (the hot water going out)? I was trying to think back to my 1st Dart when we rebuilt the radiator & replaced all the hoses. My memory is fuzzy. It really is just the "pipe" coming from the bottom of the engine where the hose hooks up. The underside is all rusted out and doesn't let the hose seal around it. I will head out to the auto parts store 1st thing in the AM. I gotta get her back on the road cause I sold my other Dart to get this one! I'll be peddling my bike to work if not! Thanks again for your advice, I am so stoked to be a part of the Mopar world.
