Hello there in america land,im restoring a 70 rt challenger in australia and im getting ready to start the engine,i would like to keep engine as stock looking as possible other than the addition of a set of hooker headers,i want to use the 304 lunati cam 234/242@50 .513/.533 lift 110* lcl 10-1 comp ported 906 heads o/s valves 750 or 850 holley and i was thinking about using the stock intake,Has anybody out there ever used a std intake with there modified 440? what were the results?,what are the HP limits, are they best used as boat anchors lol..Also if i use an after market intake wich one works well and alows you to use the stock air cleaner assy.I know the combo would be good for approx 475hp,100 hp up from std but worried about the intake.Hope somebody can shed some light.Cheers  

It won't rev and what it does rev 5000 won't make much power.

Edelbrocks performer intake is the best all around street/strip intake for the 440, it will allow you to use the stock air cleaner as well. I would use the 750 double pumper, its good to 500 hp without doing much to it, plus the throttle response is superior to the 850. If you want do go bigger do the annular discharge 800 or 830 and be sure it has 50cc accel pumps with a large pair of shooters.  

The Performer is no better then the stock iron piece. The Performer RPM is another story.

You can modify the stock iron intake to work well. It will need a lot of porting and plenum work. It still wont perform as well as a Performer RPM. The old CH4B is another good intake and looks more stock then the RPM does. Either way, painted orange they look pretty stock under the big stock air cleaner.
