Hello all. I am new to this forum. I am building a 1972 Satellite Sebring Plus that I got when I was 15 yars old. I have been working on it ever since. It has a 318 which I got rebuilt. I had it bored 30 over. I bought a Lunati cam for it. The cam duration is 292. The question I have is about the push rods. I wanted to know if I would have to get a differeent size of push rod for the engine since I have such a large cam or not. This is the only thing holding me back from putting her back together. Could someone please tell me if I can use stock size push rods or if I will have to get ones of a different size for this. Thanks.

Are you using the stock springs? What spring pressure did the cam call for? What rock arms are using? Spring pressure, lifter type and rocker type are the main concerns when picking push rods. Spring pressure will also deside what type of rocker you will use.

Hello andy. I had the heads rebuilt but they did not do anything special to them just cleaned them and put on new springs an such. The rockers and the springs are all stock. The lifters are hydraulic as the 292 cam I bought is a hydraulic cam.

Here is the specs for the cam I bought. It is a Lunati Bracket Master II.
· Advertised Duration (Int/Exh): 292/292 · Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 230/230 · Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .480/.480 · LSA/ICL: 109/105 · Valve Lash (Int/Exh): Hyd/Hyd · RPM Range: 2000-5500
So, could I use the stock size push rods for this engine. all I had done to it was had it bored 30 over and the head rebuilt but they were all rebuilt stock. All I need to know is if ai can use stock push rods so I can put this baby back together. Thanks

I will assume this is the motor that cam with the car, if so you can use the stock pushrods. However your valve springs better be an upgrade because stock 318 valve springs will not get the job done. You will likely have valve float around 4500 rpm with 318 springs. I would recommend a pair of 340 mopar performance springs from mancini racing or one of the other fine wholesalers such as summit racing, or jegs. Personally I would advance the cam 4 degrees as well, you have a heavy car and it is going to need all the help it can get in the low RPM's with such a small motor. To do this you can order a timing set with the advance built into the crank gear, just check the retailers I mentioned they can certainly help you in this area.
