1973 Dodge Dart Sport
I am replacing the Cam adjusters on the upper A frame and notice that some of the pieces the cam washers set against are badly worn. Some were bent. My first thought was to bend them back into position and to cut the bad one out and weld a fabricated piece back in its place.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so is there some replacement available or a proper way to make a lasting repair?
   Thanks

Well no one answered and no one at the local Dodge Service had a clue so I took it upon myself to fix the problem.
I considered removing the existing parts that were factory spot welded on and either making new ones but thicker. I also considered milling from a piece of Bar stock metal a piece that would also act as a contact for the cam washers. Either of these would easily be welded to the frame but possibly a real pain to get back into the original position.
After further inspection I fould that not all were bent and only one was worn. I bent the bad ones back into position and used a new cam bolt to check the correct angle. I then used my Mig Welder to place a couple of lines of welds on the outter edge of the bracket. I took into consideration that the brackets are easier to repair than remove and replace.  I would hope that an aftermarket part that could be welded into place would be offered in the future. I cna't believe I am the only one who has ever discovered this problem. Check yours out It may be the answer to your alignment problems!
Work in progress continues on the Dart Sport!
