I'm about to purchase a 68 Roadrunner despite some very small rust bubbles showing through the paint on the quarters and lower door. Should even minor signs of cancer like this call for new panels or would it be cheaper to have the spots cut, welded and repaired? I really dont want to strip her apart yet and go through the entire rotisserie thing yet cause everything else is immaculate, but i want to get the body smooth now. Any ideas on what i'm looking to spend on rust repairs?

I TOO AM JUST STARTING TO RESTORE MY 68 ROADRUNNER BUT IT ISN'T IN THE BEST OF SHAPE AND HAVE NO IDEA WHERE TO GET PARTS AT A DECENT PRICE,I'M ON A LIMITED BUDGET, I NEED SOME BODY WORK NOT AS BAD AS IT COULD BE BUT I DON'T KNOW THE FIRST THING ABOUT BODY WORK. I'M UNSURE OF THE ORIGINAL PAINT. SINCE I HAVE BEEN AROUND THIS CAR,24YRS, IT WAS ALWAYS A PRIMERED MAROON. THERE IS SOME SURFACE RUST . THE MAJOR DAMAGE IS THE BACK QUARTERS BUT IT'S ONLY AT MOST 5INCHES UP SO I DON'T THINK I NEED A REPLACEMENT BUT IN ONE OF MY MOPARMUSCLE ISSUES THEY DID SOME WORK ON ONE AND FOUND THAT THE INNER WHEEL WELLS WERE BAD AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AND NOW I CAN'T REMEMBER IF THEY REPLACED THE OUTERS AS WELL. LIKE ANY TRUE MOPAR FAN I STILL HAVE ALL OF MY ISSUES. I SAVE THEM IN PLASTIC. I NEED SOME PARTS AS WELL. I REALLY NEED SOME HELP WITH THIS ONE COULD YOU GIVE ME ANY POINTERS?

I am not sure what the going rate for body work is now. The best advice I can give is to call or    take the car to a local body shop and have them look at it.Some time surface rust can lead to a more serious rust issue.
My son and myself just tackled his import car and it was a learning experiance for me.
We had to cut grind, treat, shape, and weld but it was worth it in the end.

I forgot to mention year one would be a great source for your parts, also I use the local library to check out dvds on basic body work as well as advanced body work.
Check your fender tag for the correct paint, you can go on line type in a search for how to decode your car.
