I have a 1972 Dodge Challenger that I have been working on for three years. It has a sun roof that I was told came factory in the car. What I would like to know is if anyone can tell me if this car actually came with a factory sun roof and if anyone knows how many of these cars were produced in that year. The sun roof is electric and when openend it goes between the roof and an inside panel under the headliner. If anyone knows anything about this any and all information will be greatly appreciated...

A sunroof on a '72 Challenger was available according to the factory brochure.  I have seen other '72 Challengers with them also and they are rare.  Some people with '70 and '71 Challengers will take the roff section of a sunroofed '72 and put the ehtire roof skin on their car just for the sunroof.  I don't know how many were made, but I'm sure they are not a whole lot of them.  Do you still have the fender tag?  If so, decode it and see if there is a code for a sunroof.  Sorry, I don't know the code off hand.  Do you have a build sheet?  If so, look for the sunroof option there and you can get the code from the build sheet and then verify it on the fender tag as well at that point.  A very good sight for Challengers is cuda-challenger.com .  Great sight, friendly people.

Hi Bill i have a 1972 dodge challenger ralley car with a factory installed sunroof the sunroof option is M51 i dont know how many cars in 72 had this option i have tried to find this out also dont have any numbers
