Hopefully someone might have an idea.
I have a stock 1996 Jeep Grad Cherokee Laredo v8 5.2L 318 w/Fuel Injection. It is stock I have not added anything to the engine or tranny (except remove the front drive shaft and axle guts becuase of a bad vibration). It has 138K and is still in good shape.

I want to get as much HP out of the thing, BUT not have to crack open the engine. This is my only way of transportation to and from work. (And no hitching rides from the boonies.) I would be considered a good shade tree mechanic. (People have actually brought me a few cars to work on. And not returned for the same problem.)

1. I noticed that the tube from the filter box to the intake is like a corigated tube with rubber like connectors for engine movement. Is there a reason that I can't just go buy some high temp PVC pipe and replace that corigated section with this slick and smooth pipe?

2. Is there a computer chip upgrade or box I can connect to get more HP?

3. I keep hearing everyone say 360 ported heads are where the HP is, but would that still work with my EFI setup?

4. How about a bigger intake throttle body? (Saw it on HPTV where they went from a 55 to 65 on a corvet.)

Any ideas would be great. I understand that without cracking the engine open I can't get much more HP, but any add-ons or weekend warrior stuff is cool. From my perspective HP and money go hand in hand.

Thanks,

Ryan
