Thanks in advance for any help!! My name is Jessica and I had just purchased a 1970 CUDA the tag and the fender tags are saying it is a 1970 but it has round tail lights which lead me to believe it is about a 73.
Has this been heard of or is there a way and reason someone would have at one point change the rear of her.
Thanks,
Jessica

jessica.1970 had 3 bar cross type taillites ,I think the 73 or 74 ,possible both had round taillites,3 possibilities , the taillites interchange and he found the round type and installed them,he may have just switched tags to get more bux for the car, installed a different complete dash for a 70 model, im hoping its just a taillite issue, hopin they interchange and just found them at a meet for a song and put them on the car. someone here for sure CAN answer this question I cant say for sure interchangrability , just look up vin # on the web and look at the taillites on the 70 to 74 models,70 barracudas are a hot commodity as you know and anything is possible, watch this board as someone here will give you a DEFINITE answer, hope its a 70, take care Ill keep my fingers crosssed for you.

A '70 Cuda should not have round tail lights, and it's not an easy swap to put round tail lights in. It takes a lot of body work, like changing the entie rear tail-light panel to do it. Also, I'm betting that if it was a '70 to begin with, someone wouldn't put 73 tail lights in it. I believe that someone may have swapped the VIN tag, which is a big no-no, and may cause you problems in the future. You may want to get someone with some legal authority to take a look at your situation.

Hello. Sorry to hear about your mess
The 1st 2 letters in the vin are BH for Barracuda, BS for CUDA. The 3rd and 4th are 23 because the 70 thru 74 are all hardtops. The 5th is a letter denoting engine( example G = 318 etc). The 6th is a number and will be a 0,1,2,3,or 4 denoting the year(70,71,72 etc).If you think the vin tag was changed, look in the trunk rubber seal groove below rear window. also top of radiator support. If the last numbers of the dash vin tag doesnt match these 2 locations the car can be a serious problem and you need to get law enforcement help cause someone may have falsified the ID of this car for whatever reason.
You need to check it out and go from there
