I am in the process of building a 451 stroker motor for street cruising in my 70 Challenger (I have a keisler 5-speed manual, 3.91 gears, performer RPM, 9.7/1 CR, TTI 1 7/8" headers, ported Iron heads, Speed Demon 750). I have several questions about possible camshafts to use in this application.
1) I am considering the mopar 284 hydraulic lifter cam (PN 4120235) with 241 degrees @ .50" lift, 68 degree overlap and 108 degree centerline (I love the sound of it). Does anyone have information on how much vacuum it should pull with a 440-451" motor (I have power brakes and would consider a vacuum canister or Vacuum pump if needed).
2) I see that mopar performance has a NEW 284 grind (PN: 5007697) with 241 degree duration, 56 degree overlap and 114 degree centerline, What would this cam be like for street driving, will it have that much more vacuum?? How will the sound of the motor be affected?
3) Would you recommend another cam all together or diferent engine combo? (I want a similar sound to the 284 cam and am not concerned about acheiving maximum horsepower)
Thanks for your input
