Is your kick down hooked up cause unless you have a manual valve body you need it hooked up and with carb wide open have the lever all the way back toward rear of car.
age is no lock on brillance

call jegs, I dont recall the part I had to use but it was like 30 bux and held the lower shifting arm from moving and it was a B&M floor shifer, hope this helps

I dont even have a kickdown cable actually, I am looking at one with a cable kickdown replacement.I forgot to say I have a stall converter but I dont know if that would change anything. But it just seems like the tranmission is stuck in one gear I haven't felt it shift at all

casey, call jegs, or any speed shop, you need to fix this. when using an aftermarket floor shifter you need this kikdown control that allows trans to shift correctly. ,dang it I just sold one and i dont recall what it was called buy its an easy 10 minute fix.

you have 1 cable that hooks shifter to the top of linkage for shifting, the lower is for the kikdown,to shift properly you need this part as the kikdown has to be in a certain position to rear in order for trans  to shift.you can wire the kikdown towards the back but the real fix only cost around $30 bux.you dont need a new cable or shifter just the kikdown part that bolts to your trans pan and and keeps the kikdown in correct position  location for shifting  but it needs to be fixed immediately .I would think your converter is ok as it doesnt control shift points. FIX IT RIGHT, CALL JEGS , if this dont work ,which I think it will then the problem is in the valvebody.

sorry casey, also change trans filter and vacuum modulator as this could also be the cause but you do need the above mentioned part also on the kikdown.

The 727 relies on throttle pressure linkage, called kick down linkage, to know when to shift. If this linkage isn't hooked up, the transmission will shift 1-2-3 so quickly you won't feel it, and then will stay in third gear.

If you drive it like this for long, the internal parts will fail due to low line pressure.

The easiest fix, regardless of what shifter you use, is to install or hook up the factory kick down linkage that goes from the carb to the transmission. There is no vacuum modulator on a 727 so don't worry about that.

Hope this helps.

dunno what i was thinking casey, sorry, you will need the kikdown and locar sells one from jegs for $82 bux, yikes. If you were to use a manulal valve body you wouldnt need the kikdown, sorry, my minds always on racing and the vac modulator on a chevy would cause shift problems. You still may need a oil and filter change though, but we arent here about chevies, are we,
