Im sorry to say but I also own a 1970 T/A Challenger EV2 Hemi orange and to see this guy bore out the STOCK BLOCK and use a cam and eagle rods is very shameful to being a TRUE MOPAR FAN..
You just ruined a RARE and VALUABLE piece of history..for what?
Im sorry but this hearing about this made me very upset..

to have a more relible ,longer lasting perhaps, all engine internals have a cycle life and once somethings cycle life is done something breaks. you can make ta heads, I disagree he now has internals that will last his lifetime for its use with much more ass than a standard ta block, gotta go with the times man cause the times going with the internals

tic toc every half turn of the crank is a cycle on the rods, crank and the block.thats a lotta abuse, and factory mopar rods have around 10 million cycles to their life before they become fatigued. and cmon, whose gonna know he has good internals even tho his 340 roars more like a lion than other TAs. its still a numbers matching car its just that the engine has very little life cycle, which is a good thing and beats driving around with .018 bore to wall and .040 rod side clearance

is it more shameful to drive a TA around tellin folks its a TA when its just a 70 340 ,them old 318 poly blocks made more hp than the TAs,we want reliable speed and ta aint no better than any other 340 to me cause parts are more exp.and small blocks cost more per horse0power to build.I like the 67 to 69 barracudas though and think the bigger70 and up look like chit, but to each their own.maybe my slant 6 duster will be worth more than a TA in 10 or so years , ya never know and there sure easy and cheap to fix unlike my 71 440 beast, the crowd, the track, the excitement, the fun, the comraderie, the girls. ,the prep, the staging, the tree, the transbrake and the run with the front wheels over 1 ft in the air is addicting, exp, but worth it to me yahooooo

well its still pointless to do! your not keeping the car at its TRUE SPECS.. and the 318 didn't have more power than the T/A 340..that was a special little motor on its own with a few goodies.
The T/A 340 had different heads, rockers, valves a completely different motor than the stock 340...read up on it!

maybe he knew it was time to rebuild it, you can always sleeve a block but I see your point but you have to expect things to go wrong and when its time to rebuild its much better using new internals and I doubt he will ever have to rebuild the engine again, take care

you think its better to throw an old rod through the side of the block and completely ruin the engine? and yeah, their all 340s to me,heck ya can build a ta 915 head just plugging the original holes and redrilling for the ta offset.I know the block is cast with a TA but are the heads just an off set drilled guide and a 360 head.didnt the TA use 1.88 1.60 valves?special rods?6 pack small block rods maybe?4 bolt mains? I like fast and reliable over a garage queen.and another thing ,I would prefer the 850 single carb to a 6 pack. these words are imo only and may not be the networks opinion on the subject, put that in your corn cob pipe and smoke it, heh, take care ps.. lifes too short, drive it, if not sell it and buy something your not afraid to drive.lifes about fun here dont need anymore garage queens.

uhoh, but ya cant move the guide. you just mill the inner guide down to same level as outer spring .really, I see your point I think the car hasnt lost any value as all the internals are basically the same.last post, take care

I know this is a touchy subject, but I get very dissapointed when mopar purists, try and "put down" for lack of a better choice of words, other Mopar fans for changing anything to his or her personal taste for their Mopar. I for one can see the beauty in a "perfect" Mopar and I can see the beauty in "individual taste" Mopar, to whatever degree he or her chooses. I go to many shows here in central Florida and there is 2 or maybe 3 if we are lucky Mopars in attendance. And some want to talk with other Mopar guys and then there are those who divide the purists from the mods and stay on their side of the fence. Yet I see all the chevy guys together, and ford guys mingle, why are we so differant? We have to continue to promote Mopar, support the cause, support the magazines, support the vendors, as 1 unified force. I recently was approached by a magazine to do a story on my and my sons car, yet it wasn't a Mopar mag and I passed. I am holding out, to keep it in the family so to speak. Can we all get along?

long as its fast I could care less what body or engine is in it personally, although ,upon researching, mopar engines, have found them to be well built, quite strong, good looking, some a lil quirky, but overall just a flat out better looking body style than the other manufacturers but the dudes who drive them look like bums, and we do still rule top fuel, they just shut down the track here and instead of asphault their going concrete, now well see some top fuelers runnin without lettin up or just breezin thru,100 miles to the nearest track now....
