I’ve enjoyed the pervious engine challenges over the last couple of years and look foreword to the upcoming ’08 Amsoil/Mopar Muscle Engine Challenge.  My only suggestion the next time around is let’s hear a little more about the main component that makes the Engine Challenge possible; the motor oil.  Yes! Without motor oil in the crankcase, there would be no engine challenge at all.  So why has there be so little fan fair about the oil?  After all, so many people have questions about what oil to run in there own performance vehicles. I didn’t even recall seeing what weight oil was being used during the last engine challenge.  Article after article made mention about the premium race fuel being utilized, but little mention about the motor oil.  Let’s see at least a couple paragraphs about the motor oil in the next round of the Amsoil/Mopar Muscle Engine Challenge.

probably has to do with the idea that asking what the best engine oil type, weight viscosity is like asking a hundred guys what the best cam, intake and carb setup is for a small block you'll get a hundred and one different answers.

I agree with you there, but I think the idea in the engine challenge is to make sure there is a level-plying field by making sure all the participants have to use the same motor oil and the same fuel.  There is no question what type/octane the fuel was, but how about the oil?  It’s up for interpretation?

All I really would like to know is if the engine challenge requires the participants to use certain viscosity oil.  And I’d be curious to know why they choose it.

Perhaps one mention of it in one of the eight articles would help clarify.

The rules state that you have to use the supplyed oil, and you do have to use the same weight, 10W40 Amsoil

Thanks 67dodge.  Where did you see the rules?  Are they posted somewhere here in Mopar Muscle Magazine Online?  Can you download them?  I’d like to see the complete rules.

Thanks
