Have a 70 Challenger that was originally a "G" code 318. I am restoring to be a "Tribute" RT with a 440, 4 bbl. The car came with A/C, Auto and P Disc. The built date was 7-30-70. I now have the body free of rust, with much new sheet medal, and at the body shop for final prep and paint. I have a choice of two 440's to put in it. Engine one is a 70 HP motor out of an RT Charger with 70K on. (miles doesn't matter as I will completely rebuild to just about stock) Build date is 8-8-70. Second engine is 73 440 non HP engine. Again, I will rebuild either of these engine with new forged pistons to the original 10.25-1 comp, very mild cam, stock manifolds, both intake and exhaust, AVS carb etc, etc.
MY QUESTION IS: should I save the 70 HP motor for my next project car that may benefit from a "correct date" and just built the '73 to all 70 spec's or use the 70 that was built about ten days before the car? Is this 6 to one and a half dozen to the other?

Thanks, DRB

What do you plan to build next? that would ultimately decide if you should save the 70 block.

Sometimes you just gotta say...

Thanks for your reply Randy. I have several cars in mind. I have a 67 GTX, # matching car ready to hit the rotisery when the Chally is done.(that was my first ride) I would like to do a 70 RR. As you may guess, I am older (50's)and very well established in the automotive industry. I do almost all the work myself with a few friends. I just can't decide if it would matter to a buyer, that is if I sell it, which engine it had. I am partial to the 70 motor and would like it to be used to it's best ability. If that is in the Challenger, which is 100% the plan right now, so be it!

Thanks again for your imput
