Manual to Power conversion on 67 Coronet ... BIG problem

I am in the process of doing the manual to power conversion on the 67 Coronet SW. The disc upgrade went smooth as silk. I got everything from a 74 Road Runner in the junkyard. The booster from the RR was about 1/4" to large to clear the inner fender. Rather then mod the inner fender I decided to just order up a booster for a 67. T figured a new booster would be a good idea, since you have to remove the steering column to get to the bolts. New booster arrived and the it fits the hole in the firewall and clears the inner fender great. Now the rod that comes out of the booster and hooks to the linkage for the brake pedal is a problem. I am still trying to use the 74 linkage, everything hooks under the dash and to the pedal just fine, but the booster rod is to fat to fit in the slot of the linkage and the hole for the pin is twice as big. I got on another board and tried to buy the 67 linkage, but everyones measurements seem to match the 74 linkage, though they claim it is from a 60's car.

Now for my questions...

Does anyone know for a fact if a late 60's B body booster rod is diffrent from a 70's car?

Even though the booster part number I have is "correct" for a 67 Coronet, could it be built or boxed wrong? I guess so but how would I tell?

Anybody else had this problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is slated to be my wifes daily driver and I need to get it on the road.

I'm not sure about '67, but my '66 coronet wagon had power brakes and I converted to manual. The brake rod as I remember wasn't so much a rod, as linkage. The linkage pivots under the dash to actuate the booster which is located higher than the master cylinder would be on a non-power brake car.

I'm pretty sure the linkage/brake rod is different on the later B-bodies.

Yes, exactly. The rod that comes out of the booster connects to a linkage that connects it to the pedal. My problem is finding that linkage. I have the linkage out of a later B body (74) and the slot that the booster rod goes in is not wide enough. The other problem is that I posted what I was looking for on moparts, got a few replies, but the measurments of the linkage that is "supposed" to be off of 66-68 B bodies measures the same as my 74 linkage. This is what is making me think I have the wrong booster, even though the part number on the box is right.

Do you still have the linkage from your 66?

Here is the problem.

My booster rod that goes in this "slot" is almost twice as big as the slot.

The hole in the booster rod that holds the rod to the linkage is almost twice the size as the holds and pin in the linkage.

Thanks for any help
