Knowing my luck this article is probably 50 years old and the car has long since gone to the crusher....
But if it is around, y'all could probably pick up another 20hp or so on the dyno if you'd fix the camshaft. A peak HP at 4500 rpm suggests that the cam is retarded a tooth, ends up being about 10 degrees or so. Factory peak power should be at 6000rpm!
I had a beater neon with this problem, started out with 87whp at 4900rpm, ended up with 110 at 6000 after changing the water pump and setting the timing right.
