I bought this car years ago in RI as a basic basket case rust bucket.  I have not done really anything to it since buying it in 1999 as I am in the service and have been deployed, moved and had much of my time taken away preventing me from really getting busy tearing into it.  My question is, can anyone link a VIN to a history of this car?  CarFax won't and can't b/c it's too old.  My reason for this is I want to see if it was totaled in a wreck years ago.  On my lift, the front right frame rail is not sitting flush on the lift pad, it's almost one inch off the pad.  Upon really close examination I see that the rail is bent slightly, and the front inner fender has been 'repaired' in the past.  The repair job is crappy, and the frame rail has pull marks from being on a rack and having chains on it basically ripping some of the frame holes open to a much larger hole.  Now, I didn't see all this since 1999 as I never had my own lift and shop as I have now for the reasons I've stated.  So, anyone know how to ping the establishment for a vehicle history?  Here's the VIN:  RS23L9E121020.  Thanks.  I just joined this forum, looking fwd to some good learning and discussing these cars.

Rusty GTX, some states will do a VIN search if you take your title to the local DMV. This doesn't mean they will, but I would try that.

Beyond that, sorry to hear it sounds like you will have to do a frame and inner fender replace. I hope nothiong else pops up.

Thanks RBolig, I will look into the RI DMV.  Not that knowing this will change anything, just a vehicle history will be good to know.  From close examination of this car, looks to me like it was used Sat Morning after watching the Dukes Fri night by some guys perhaps my age...cuz that's what I would have done!
