Well, that’s very interesting stuff.  I had no idea how many 400 4 bbl cars were built.  This is indeed my lucky day.  My car is a “P” engine code car as the VIN shows, and the broadcast sheet under remarks, confirms that it is “delete cat convert”.  The engine code on the fender tag is E-68 rather than E-64.

I didn’t think much of it at the time, but the dealer asked for almost 10% of the cost of car as a deposit when I ordered it.  That was a fair chunk of change at the time, and well more than twice the cost of engine option.

George, I will give you a call once I get through month end madness.  It would be interesting to chat.

I remember ever seeing only five '75 Road Runners besides my own car.  One was a 400 4 bbl single that was squished between two trucks when it was almost new.  Not pretty.  The others I think were 318s.  Two of them were Sundance cars.  One had a white vinyl top and no stripes.  I saw that car lots of times, but the last time I saw it, it was rust hulk junk.  The other was white with gold stripes.  It was in a body shop.  They had just painted the car and it looked awful because they had masked the stripes and the paint ended up deeper than the stripes.

As for restoring?  Now I seem to have a renewed interest in the old bird.  At least I will hang onto it for the time being.  Yes, finding parts should be a challenging process.

BTW guys, a nice addition is the 140 mph certified speedo from any 75-79 police unit.

I have one that I am sending out to Auto Instruments for restoration (broken needle).

And a guy on ebay last year had a complete Rally Dash cluster with the wiring harness NOS....it didn't sell the starting price was $1100.00...

Yes, I agree that the 140 mph speedo would be a nice addition.  I should mention that I added a Rallye dash to my car in about 1980.  I bought the necessary parts from a Chrysler dealer and changing them was a fairly major project.  The tach packed it in a few years ago, but I have another from a wrecker.  I should change it out one of these days.  I also put in a tilt column from a '78 Magnum.  That was a great upgrade!
