I've located a 1981 360 & auto trans and I would like to put it in my 74 Duster.my car has the slant 6 in it now.Question :how much work would it be to swap out the 6 for the 8?I would be using a Schumacher engine swap kit.Now what else would I need in the front end?..as it sits everything is stock for the slant 6 ie:torsion bars, drum brakes, tie rods ect...Also would I need a different rear end...Thanks,newbe Mopar owner

the rear dif 8 1/4 it will hold the 360 no problem untill you stuff a steep set of gears in it . motor swap very easy the rad needs to be changed . make sure you get all brackets for the a/c ,ps,alt. torsion bars /6 ok for drag racing ,little week for every day . drum brakes less rolling restance but fade under hard braking but have work for yrs right.ie wheel cyc an shoes, drum's all brake hoses good shape use them i do .then later if you want to change them out not a big deal . have fun an enjoy...

another easy way to go is to find a wrecked duster dart valiant demon swinger..... a body that had a 318 in it. if you dont want that motor sell it and take the whole k member and trans drive shaft and rear end just bolt up your 360 to the mix as long as you have the auto 360 pan the truck pan wont due and install and junk the rest i just bought a running 74 valiant for 400 dollars and drove it home the body is streight and there is hardly any rust just in tipical spot but the int is shot so what it was going to get tubbed any way moral is there is cheap easy options out there and some 225 modle dusters came with the 8 3/4 rear end and disk brakes so if your going to part something together dont forget to look there

We put a 360 in my 74 Duster. It was pretty easy. Make sure you get a set of schumaucker motor mounts to convert to the 8 cylinder. Go to www.dragboyz.com and see my car. There is a lot of Mopars on the site that belong to my friends and family. Click on Dens 74 Duster . Thats my car My Duster runs 12.70z and 80z . All the info is there on what parts I used to get it there. Hope it help ya out and good luck with the project!!
